How Illegal Drugs Affect Teens

If you Start Drugs, it Will be the Beginning of the End

Drugs can take hold on somebody's life and they may never be the same again after addiction has controlled them in every way possible. This is especially true when somebody as young as a teenager begins to use drugs. So how can a concerned family member or friend tell if a loved one has a drug addiction? There are many warning signs that indicate drug use. There are physical signs like red eyes, develops rashes/scabs, involuntary shaking, dilated pupils, changes in weight, and bruises. Some behavioral signs/emotional signs are changes in sleeping/eating patterns, depression, anxiety, disappears for periods of time and refuses to talk about or lies about where they were, and financial problems.
There are plenty of ways to find help. In Troy, Mi, there are multiple support groups where one can go and find help for their addiction. Some of these are hosted at Zion United Church of Christ and the Lincoln County Council of Aging. There are also rehab centers like Perspectives of Troy where one can stop their addiction. Schools can also help by educating young people about the harmful effects of drugs, and parents/family members can do the same. Friends of teenagers can help stop drug use by not pressuring their friends to try drugs or by encouraging their friends to stop.
